Ceremony for Announcement and Handover of Decision on Appointing Director of CMC Institute of Science and Technology

On the morning of 28 August 2018, at the Grand Meeting Hall - 17th floor, CMC Corporation held a ceremony for announcement and handover of decision on appointing Mr. Nguyen Chan Hung as the Director of CMC Institute of Science and Technology.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of the BOD/CEO; Mr. Hoang Ngoc Hung, Deputy CEO; Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, Deputy CEO/ HR Manager, Mr. Ho Thanh Tung, Deputy CEO/Strategy Manager; Mr. Ta Hoang Linh, General Director of CMC SI; Mr. Nguyen Kim Cuong, General Director of CMC Soft; together with managers and chiefs of the Corporation as well as members of CIST.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, Deputy CEO/ HR Manager read the appointment decision and Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of the BOD/CEO handed the decision to Mr. Nguyen Chan Hung.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Chinh shared his passion for science and technology as well as his hope that the Corporation would organize professional, in-depth scientific research activities and bring core, competitive values to the business. He also expected that, Mr. Nguyen Chan Hung, with his achievements, would bring all his abilities and experience in full play and together with the team of scientific researchers at the Institute come up with inventions which help develop the Corporation, and that in the near future, the Institute's name will appear on the science and technology map of Vietnam and the world.

For his part, Mr. Nguyen Chan Hung sent the sincerest thanks to the leadership who had trusted and assigned the mission to him, and promised to successfully complete his tasks in order to realize the leadership's dream.

Profile of Mr. Nguyen Chan Hung:

Mr. Nguyen Chan Hung was born on 24 January 1973 in Hanoi, graduated from Hanoi University of Science and Technology with a Bachelor's degree and a postgraduate degree in Electronics and Telecommunications.  In 2002, he received a Ph.D. degree in Telematics from Valladolid University, Spain and in 2011 was awarded the title of Associate Professor of Electricity and Electronics (he was 38 years old back then).

After working in many international laboratories, institutes and research centers, in 2012, Mr. Chan Hung was appointed Director of Green Technology Center - Vietnam Institute of Electronics, Informatics and Automation under Ministry of Industry and Trade, and then was promoted to Vice Director cum deputy manager FIRST-VIELINA project (funded by the WB with a value of 3 million USD). From June 1818 to present, Mr. Chan Hung is Deputy Director of CMC Institute of Science and Technology.

He was awarded certificate of merit from Minister of Industry and Trade in 2016. He is also the chief author and leader of a research team which has been successful in creating VIEBOT, one of the very first humanoid robots in Vietnam. He has successfully led 14 major research topics and projects as well as participated in 6 other research of national, ministerial and international level (working with researchers from Japan, Belgium, Germany and Italy). He also has science and technology applications which are put into practical use (e.g.: GDS emotional marketing machine)

During his term as Deputy Director of CMC Institute of Science and Technology, Mr. Chan Hung has developed and proposed operational strategy for the Institute; recruited personnel for research teams, promoted the cooperation with other institutes and universities as well as domestic and international experts; developed some demo solutions for customers (remote conference, identification system, etc.)
