Head of Big Data/AI of CIST: "CMC will fully exploit data to form new knowledge"

Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Head of Big Data/AI Department of CMC Institute of Science and Technology (CIST) said so on the opportunity to develop big data and apply artificial intelligence to develop the economy of Vietnam with a breakthrough in the discussion of Digital Economy at Vietnam Economic Forum (VEF) 2019 which took place in Hanoi on January 17th, 2019.

On January 17th, 2019, Vietnam Economic Forum (VEF) 2019 was organized by the Government and the Central Economic Committee in Hanoi with the participation of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Mr. Nguyen Van Binh - Head of the Central Economic Committee, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh - Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Mr. John Kerry - Former US Secretary of State and many Vietnamese and foreign experts in the field of digital economy, energy and environment.

At the exchange session of AI (Artificial Intelligence): Opportunities and challenges for Vietnam, Mr. Bui The Duy - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology commented: In 2018, Vietnam has gathered many people who are interested in artificial intelligence, with connection between businesses, institutes, State management agencies and investment funds. The government is very active in creating "Government as a platform" to act as a stimulus for digital transformation. For example, the platforms of national payment gateway, common data sharing, high-speed telecommunications infrastructure, and digital transformation projects deployed from the central to local levels, etc. are good signs for the economy of Vietnam to breakthrough.

Discussion session of "Creating an investment and development environment to optimize the benefits from the digital economy for Vietnam"

So what benefits are Vietnamese people going to enjoy from Industry 4.0, AI, Big Data, etc.? Mr. Truong Gia Binh (Chairman of FPT Corporation) - the coordinator of the forum posed such a question in the discussion of “Creating an investment and development environment to optimize the benefits from the digital economy for Vietnam”. Answering this question, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Head of Big Data/AI Department of CMC Institute of Science and Technology, CMC Corporation said: Previously, Vietnam used fixed data warehouse, but today, all data is posted online (on the internet). Intergovernmental data, data related to citizen identity, household registration, etc. are all in need of synchronization and deployment on the internet. Not only the Government but also enterprises are partners of CMC Technology in the process of producing data, and they all want to keep those assets so that they can continue to develop in the future. So what should we do?

"CMC is one of the leading information technology and telecommunication corporations in Vietnam," said Ms. Ngoc Anh. "We have been promoting research activities in new technology fields such as Big data/AI, Security, IoT, Robotics, etc. Regarding data development, CMC will connect community data and data from enterprises to create new knowledge. Based on the connectivity of common data of the digital economy, CMC Corporation is about to launch C-OPE2N  ecosystem with 3 platforms: service infrastructure, knowledge and environment. CMC wishes to build sets of common database and data management rules for residents with the Government. " Ms. Ngoc Anh also said the strength of CMC Corporation is a strong telecommunications platform, with enough speed and bandwidth to connect organizations and businesses with the State and people.

At the end of the discussion, the speakers commented: In 2020, Vietnam will be one of the first 5 countries to deploy 5G. This will be a breakthrough in data connection, a good signal to promote the strengths of Vietnam such as young population, the love with math, technology and the eagerness to learn new things, as well as many job opportunities in the field of IT. Vietnam can fully take advantage of the trend of automation and AI for a more prosperous economy.
