CMC Corporation launches CMC CA for public digital signature authentication

On the morning of 6 May 2020 in Hanoi, CMC Corporation officially launched the CMC Certificate Authority (CMC CA) - a service for authentication of public digital signatures.

On the morning of 6 May 2020 in Hanoi, CMC Corporation officially launched the CMC Certificate Authority (CMC CA) - a service for authentication of public digital signatures. CMC CA is a part of the digital ecosystem that supports large enterprises and SMEs being customers of CMC Corporation and contributes to providing infrastructure for digital economy. CMC Technology and Solution (CMC TS) is the company to provide and deploy this service. 

Mr. Dang Dinh Truong - Deputy Director of National Electronic Authentication Center (NEAC) under Ministry of Information and Communications announced the results after appraisal as follows: “CMC has one of the best infrastructure and system - especially its data centers and equipment. CMC CA fully meets the standards for public digital signature authentication according to Decree 130/2018 of the Government as well as applicable regulations and standards promulgated by MIC. NEAC believes that with its competence, reputation and great deal of experience, CMC will strongly promote the market for digital authentication service."

 

Earlier, on 5 June 2019 in Hanoi, National Electronic Authentication Center held a ceremony to grant license to CMC Corporation for provision of digital signature authentication service.  CMC CA fulfills the strict requirements for technical infrastructure according to international standards as well as requirements for human resources and financial capacity. The infrastructure of CMC CA is designed as two systems which are located at two CMC data centers in Hanoi (main) and Ho Chi Minh City (backup). This data center is certified for the international Tier III standards, and is the only data center in Vietnam that has PCI DSS certificate. It has an inter-country transmission system that directly connects to the mainland cable system of Southeast Asia (A-Grid).

In case a problem happens to the main system, the backup system will be activated to ensure that the entire CMC CA system works 24/7. Each system is divided into separate sections for safety and security. In addition, CMC CA also meets the information security standards FIPS PUB 140 Level 3 and PKCS for cryptographic modules.

More than 700,000 customers of CMC ecosystem will benefit from more convenient and faster services, including: e-invoice, invoicing, declaration of tax and social insurance, digital certification, digital signature, etc. CMC CA service helps businesses to save administrative expenses and time, and still be able to sign documents anytime, anywhere. The delivery of signed documents and dossiers to partners, customers, statutory agencies, etc. is also more convenient and quicker.

Based on an advanced technology platform with high level of security, CMC CA is able to solve the problem of data integrity in electronic transactions, such as: customs, tax, e-social insurance, banking, securities, documents, etc. At the same time, CMC CA also assists in terms of transaction security and anti-tampering signature, thus help businesses, organizations and individuals to rest assured with their e-transactions.

In 2019, according to statistics of NEAC, the market for public digital signature authentication has grown sharply, with about 1.27 million active public digital certificates issued to businesses and citizens, representing an increase of 21%. Also, government's digital certificates issued to state agencies, public servants and public officials were approximately 220,000, increased by about 67%. According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Cuong - Deputy General Director/Chief of Business Department of CMC TS, before, digital certificates mainly served businesses in declaration of tax, customs and social insurance services; however, there has been a new wave of technology, which uses digital certificate for personal identification. The market can be expanded to 100 million digital certificates per year, ranging from banking & finance to public services. In the future, each and everyone will have a personal identification number. Mr. Nguyen Kim Cuong said: “CMC has been focusing on developing infrastructure, technology and solutions. With the launch of the public digital signature authentication, CMC hopes to promote the use of digital signatures and digital identification as a contribution to the roadmap for digital transformation of our country.”
