CMC presses the button to launch Information Security Monitoring System for e-Government

On the morning of 29 November 2019, Vietnam Information Security Day 2019 was held by Vietnam Information Security Association (VNISA). At the event, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh (Chairman of Board of Directors/CEO of CMC Corporation), together with leaders of the Government, pressed the button the launch the Information Security Monitoring System for e-Government.

With the topic of "Enhancing national network safety and cyber security in a digital age", Vietnam Information Security Day 2019 brought together many domestic and international network security experts to discuss cyber security development as well as solutions to improve Vietnam's information security capacity. The event was attended by Mr. Vu Duc Dam (Deputy Prime Minister), Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung (Minister of Information & Communications, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of e-Government), Mr. Le Quang Huy (Vice Chairman of National Assembly Committee on Science & Technology), Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung (Deputy Minister of Information & Communications), Mr. Pham Cong Dat (Deputy Minister of Science & Technology), Mr. Ngo Van Quy (Vice Chairman of Hanoi's People's Committee) etc.  The highlight of the event was when leaders of the Government, National Committee of e-Government and leaders of large information security enterprises together press the button to launch the Information Sharing and Security Monitoring System for e-Government. The system is supported by National Cyber Monitoring Center (NCSC - under Department of Information Security) as a national technical contact in securing network safety and cyber security, as well as monitoring information trends throughout the cyberspace in Vietnam and cooperating with other members in the Alliance for malware and network attack prevention, namely Viettel, VNPT, CMC, FPT and BKAV.

After the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said: "Today, we officially launch the National Information Security Monitoring Center, which is a critical event to ensure information security of the country. Vietnam is promoting information technology and applying technology in all areas, from the operation of the Government and administrative authorities of all levels to activities of the people, especially in the general context of our country entering the era of Industry 4.0.  We are pleased to know that this year, Vietnam advanced by 10 ranks in the competitiveness rankings of World Economic Forum for Industry 4.0, and 50 ranks in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) rankings. "With the introduction of Information Sharing and Monitoring System for e-Government, the Deputy Prime Minister believes institutions can connect to each other more closely and synchronously. He also hoped to strengthen the cooperation between agencies and businesses and the whole community, contributing to socioeconomic development and helping Vietnam to make the most of the opportunities brought by Industry 4.0.

Also at Vietnam Information Security Day 2019, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized: "The world and Vietnam are entering the cyber era with many challenges. Every second, there are 32 new malicious codes created. Countries need to stand shoulder to shoulder to ensure cyber security, develop e-government as well as digital government, economy and society. Previously, we focused on investing in solutions and equipment. Now, cyber security components must be prioritized in balance with human resources and processes."  Ministry of Information & Communications has also identified national information security as a prerequisite factor in the construction of e-government, thereby building ecosystems and network of professionals and dedicated forces to promptly handle and respond to incidents.

Also at the event, high-quality information security products in 2019, voted by VNISA, were also announced. This year, CMC Cyber Security has 3 award-winning products: CMDD - malware prevention and centralized management solution for enterprises, which won the "2019 Award for High-quality Information Security Product"; CryptoShield - anti-data encryption software, which won the "2019 Award for Excellent New Security Product", and CMC Security Operation Center (CMC SOC), which won the award for "Prominent Information Security Service in 2019". This is the 5th consecutive year that CMC Cyber Security receives VNISA Information Security Award (since the launch of the program in 2015). At the awarding ceremony on the morning of 29 November 2019, Mr. Ha The Phuong (Deputy General Director of CMC Cyber Security) received medals of the three awards.
